Residents of Varnado Hall are still unhappy with the living conditions in their Living and Learning style dormitory. One student took it upon herself to open the dialog between students and faculty/staff of the hall by creating a petition outlining residents’ grievances.
Northwestern State University was recently awarded a Louisiana Highway Safety Commission grant for $29,000. The money is distributed across the state to fund educational programs focused on improving driving habits.
After the state primary ended with no candidate receiving over 50 percent of the vote Oct. 14, the Louisiana Treasurer will be selected with a run-off election. Republican John Schroder and Democrat Derrick Edwards will face off again Nov. 18.

Northwestern State University spent a year renovating Varnado Hall to be a designated living learning center for Creative and Performing Arts students. Residents moved in over a month ago, yet residents are still waiting for every promise of their lease to be fulfilled.
First Lady Jennifer Maggio announced her service project “Forks Up for Literacy,” a campaign with a goal of collecting 1,884 books for children ages five to 15. She plans to hold an annual collection for the 1884 campaign at the first home football game every year.
Northwestern State volleyball suffered three losses this weekend during the Rebel Classic in Oxford, Mississippi. With a tough schedule ahead, the team is looking to improve on the way to conference play.
