Students can show off their pumpkin carving talents with KNWD’s annual Attack of the Jack-o’-Lanterns Oct. 13 at the Alumni Plaza from 5-7 p.m.
KNWD will set the stage with a spooky playlist, door prizes, KNWD swag giveaways and frightening games. Pumpkins will be available to carve on a first-come, first-serve basis, so pre-carving pumpkins to bring to the event is encouraged.
The grand prize for the pumpkin carving contest includes two VOODOO Music & Arts Experience tickets. Prizes will also be awarded to the second and third place winners. Door prizes include KNWD swag bags and VIP tickets to NSU Theatre’s Oct. 25 production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
KNWD General Manager Noah Baudoin and KNWD Public Relations Director Candice Richardson planned this year’s Attack of the Jack-o’-Lanterns differently than those held in the past.
“This is the first year we have not worked with SAB,” Baudoin said. “I’m excited to see how KNWD performs and how the students respond.”
Richardson agreed and said she is anticipating the changed event setup as well.
“I’m excited that we are taking a new approach,” she said. “This year is less formal and more fun with all the games and contests.”
There is no preregistration for pre-carved pumpkins, and the event is free for all NSU students.
